Wana blast incident has claimed the life of a senior Jamiat Ulema e Islam Fazl leader after he succumbed to critical injuries sustained in a remote controlled explosion in Lower South Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Police confirmed that Maulana Sultan was wounded a day earlier when an explosive device detonated near a madrassa in the Wana market, leaving him in critical condition.
According to officials, the blast occurred in a busy market area, spreading fear among local residents. Maulana Sultan was immediately shifted for medical treatment but could not survive due to the severity of his injuries. The incident has once again highlighted serious security concerns in KP.
JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed deep grief over the death of the party leader. He described Maulana Sultan’s killing as a tragic loss and demanded an immediate and transparent investigation into the attack. He also called on authorities to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
Fazlur Rehman offered condolences to the bereaved family, party workers, students, and local residents. He prayed for patience for the family and peace for the departed soul. He further raised concerns about the rising wave of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, which continues to claim lives of civilians and security personnel.
Recent reports show a sharp rise in terrorist incidents in KP during 2025, with thousands of attacks recorded nationwide. Security officials have linked this surge to worsening law and order conditions, stressing the need for stronger counterterrorism measures to restore peace in the region.
