Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peaceful dialogue between the United States and Iran, saying it will continue encouraging both countries to end hostilities and resume negotiations under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

During a weekly media briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said Pakistan remains actively engaged in diplomatic efforts despite the recent escalation of tensions between Washington and Tehran. He rejected suggestions that Islamabad had stepped back from its peace initiatives, stressing that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only practical path toward resolving disputes.

Andrabi stated that while the implementation of the Islamabad MoU has encountered challenges, Pakistan will continue supporting efforts to restart technical level discussions and reduce regional tensions. He added that the government is closely monitoring developments and remains hopeful that both sides will return to negotiations.

The spokesperson also expressed concern over the ongoing conflict’s impact on the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy routes. He emphasized the need for the early restoration of stability to ensure the uninterrupted flow of global trade, energy supplies, and maritime navigation. According to the Foreign Office, prolonged instability could negatively affect oil prices, food security, international trade, and the global economy.

Speaking on regional issues, Andrabi said Pakistan continues to facilitate humanitarian assistance for Afghanistan through the United Nations and international partner organizations. He revealed that around 45 aid trucks have already been dispatched through Pakistan to support the Afghan people.

However, he clarified that relations with Afghanistan cannot improve unless the Afghan authorities take effective measures to prevent their territory from being used for terrorist activities against Pakistan. Addressing the security situation in Balochistan, the spokesperson strongly condemned recent terrorist attacks and reiterated Pakistan’s firm stance against terrorism. He also accused India of supporting terrorist activities in the province, claiming that New Delhi’s statements and reactions reflected a pattern of backing such actions.

Pakistan, he concluded, remains committed to regional peace, humanitarian cooperation, and the peaceful resolution of international disputes through dialogue.
