Peshawar school collapse has left the city in deep mourning after a roof gave way and claimed the lives of 30 children along with one female teacher. Another 52 people suffered injuries in the heartbreaking incident that took place in Dir Colony.
Police registered an FIR at Agha Mir Jani Shah police station against the school owners, shareholders and construction contractor. The case falls under Section 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code for causing death without intention to kill. Authorities confirmed they are actively working to arrest all named suspects.
The FIR clearly states that poor quality material was used during construction. The building stood in a decayed and unsafe condition, making it completely unsuitable for running a school. Earlier complaints about cracked walls and weak roofs had been raised several times, yet the management ignored every warning. Even the children themselves had pointed out the dangerous state of the structure, but no action followed.
The collapse happened while classes were in progress. Roofs of a nursery classroom on the second floor and rooms on the ground floor came down together, trapping students and staff under heavy debris. Rescue teams worked for hours to pull survivors from the rubble while anxious parents waited outside in desperation.
The school sits on a 16-marla plot owned by Waheed and Javed. The land was taken on lease in 2024 and the building was constructed afterward. Police and rescue officials have openly questioned the quality of materials and the overall structural strength of the school.
School owner Khan Muhammad earlier claimed that several days of heavy rain caused the roof to fall. However, investigators now focus on the alleged use of substandard construction materials. One owner has already been arrested. Families of the victims continue to demand a complete and transparent probe so that those responsible face justice.
This tragedy has sparked widespread anger and grief across Peshawar. Parents and residents insist that proper checks must be enforced on all private school buildings to prevent such loss of young lives in the future.
