Pakistan’s cricket team is once again putting its trust in the power of spin as it looks to secure a series victory against South Africa. After a strong performance in the first Test in Lahore, the team plans to continue using spin-friendly strategies to dominate the visitors.
Interim head coach Azhar Mehmood shared these insights during a press conference ahead of the second Test match. He explained that the training camp before the series was designed with one clear goal: helping players master the art of both playing and bowling spin on local pitches where the ball turns sharply.
“Our main focus was to prepare the team for spin conditions. Players worked on improving their techniques and mindset to handle spin effectively,” Mehmood said while addressing the media.
The practice sessions included extensive drills for spinners to sharpen their accuracy and for batsmen to improve their shot selection and footwork. The aim was to give players confidence and control when facing spin-heavy conditions.
When asked about team selection, Mehmood remained careful, saying the final lineup would be decided after assessing the pitch on match day. However, he hinted that only a few small changes might be made from the winning combination in Lahore.
With Pakistan’s spinners performing consistently well, the team looks confident about continuing its winning streak and claiming another home series win against South Africa.
