The Pakistan Navy recently carried out two successful counter-narcotics operations far out in the Arabian Sea, recovering a massive haul of illegal drugs valued at around $96 million. According to the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations, the operations were executed by Pakistan Navy Ship Yarmook while it was on deployment in the region.
During these missions, which took place at extended ranges well away from the Pakistani coastline, naval personnel intercepted two dhows. Inside concealed compartments on the vessels, they discovered approximately 850 kilograms of ice and 2,000 kilograms of hashish and cannabis. The total quantity of narcotics recovered came to 2,850 kilograms.
All the seized substances have been taken into custody. Officials confirmed that the drugs will be handed over to the relevant authorities for proper disposal and further legal action. The operations highlight the navy’s continuous presence and readiness to tackle illicit trafficking at sea.
ISPR noted that these results demonstrate the Pakistan Navy’s sustained vigilance and strong commitment to maintaining maritime security across the region. By operating effectively at long distances from the shore, the force continues to disrupt criminal networks that attempt to move large quantities of drugs through open waters.
The successful interception of the two dhows adds to a series of similar efforts aimed at keeping the Arabian Sea safer. Naval teams remain focused on monitoring suspicious vessels and acting swiftly when evidence of smuggling appears. Such operations not only remove dangerous narcotics from circulation but also send a clear message to those involved in the illegal trade.
With the drugs now secured and the vessels under control, the process moves into the next phase of investigation and prosecution. The Pakistan Navy has once again shown its ability to protect regional waters through determined and professional action against drug trafficking.
