Pakistan and Kuwait have signed a new agreement aimed at strengthening military cooperation and expanding collaboration between their armed forces. The Protocol Agreement-2026 was signed in Islamabad on Thursday during a high-level visit by Kuwait’s Defence Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Saleem Al-Sabah.
Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif signed the agreement with his Kuwaiti counterpart. According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Defence, the new pact builds on the existing Defence Cooperation Agreement-2023 and provides a broader framework for defence collaboration.
Under the agreement, the Pakistan Armed Forces will provide assistance to Kuwait in several areas, including military training, capacity building, border management and other mutually agreed fields. The expanded cooperation is expected to strengthen the capabilities of both countries while supporting their shared security interests.
During their meeting, the two defence ministers discussed matters of mutual interest, bilateral security cooperation and ways to further strengthen institutional defence relations. Both sides also expressed their commitment to maintaining close ties and promoting regional peace and stability.
The visiting Kuwaiti delegation also met Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. The meeting focused on regional security, bilateral defence cooperation and other matters of mutual interest.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, both sides reaffirmed their determination to expand mutually beneficial defence collaboration. The Kuwaiti delegation also praised the professionalism and operational capabilities of Pakistan Armed Forces, along with their contribution to regional peace and stability.
The latest agreement reflects the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Kuwait and signals a further expansion of their defence partnership. Both countries said they remain committed to transforming their historic ties into a stronger and more sustainable partnership that can contribute to regional security and stability.
