Pakistan secured a memorable four-wicket victory over Australia in the third and final ODI at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, clinching the three-match series 2-1. This achievement marks Pakistan’s third consecutive ODI series win over Australia, highlighting the team’s growing confidence and consistency in the 50-over format.

Chasing a modest target of 158 runs, Pakistan faced early pressure when opener Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed cheaply. Young batter Maaz Sadaqat provided an aggressive start, scoring 27 runs and keeping the scoreboard moving before his departure. Veteran batter Babar Azam then anchored the innings with a composed knock of 40 runs, helping stabilize the chase despite wickets falling at regular intervals.

Australia’s bowlers fought back strongly, reducing Pakistan to 112 for 6, which brought tension into the contest. However, experienced all-rounder Shadab Khan stepped up when his team needed him the most. Alongside Abdul Samad, he built an unbeaten partnership that guided Pakistan safely to victory in the 42nd over. Shadab remained unbeaten on 29, while Samad contributed a valuable 18 not out.

Earlier, Australia’s decision to bat first did not produce the desired result. Pakistan’s bowling attack delivered an impressive performance, restricting the visitors to just 157 runs. Shaheen Shah Afridi led the charge with a superb spell of 3 wickets for 30 runs, removing key Australian batters and maintaining pressure throughout the innings.

Australian captain Josh Inglis was the standout performer for his side with a fighting 65-run innings, but he received little support from the rest of the batting lineup. Pakistan’s bowlers continued to strike regularly, with Shadab Khan and Abrar Ahmed claiming two wickets each.

For his outstanding bowling performance, Shaheen Shah Afridi was named Player of the Match, while talented all-rounder Arafat Minhas earned the Player of the Series award. The series victory further strengthens Pakistan’s momentum as they continue their successful run in ODI cricket.
