The Pakistan government has launched a strict new crackdown on Afghan nationals living illegally in the country. The Interior Ministry has directed law enforcement agencies across Pakistan to arrest any Afghan national found residing without a valid visa starting July 10, 2026.

In an official letter sent to all four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and the Islamabad administration, the ministry ordered immediate action to expedite the repatriation and deportation of undocumented Afghan citizens. The directive emphasizes strict enforcement of immigration laws to strengthen national security.

The ministry has also asked for daily reports beginning July 11, detailing the number of Afghan nationals caught without visas, actions taken against them, and their current status. This move shows the government’s firm commitment to managing illegal immigration more effectively.

This latest directive comes just days after a deadly terrorist attack on a Pakistan Rangers camp in Karachi. The assault resulted in the martyrdom of three Rangers personnel and injuries to four others. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the attackers detonated a blast at the main gate before trying to breach the camp’s security. Security forces responded swiftly, eliminating three militants and capturing one injured attacker.

The arrested terrorist identified himself as Usman Ali from Jalalabad, Afghanistan, and admitted belonging to the India-backed Jamaat ul Ahrar group. He revealed that he and other attackers received training in Afghanistan for the operation. In response, Pakistan’s Foreign Office summoned the Afghan Charge d’Affaires and issued a strong demarche, conveying Pakistan’s serious concerns to Afghan authorities.

This Pakistan Afghan nationals crackdown reflects growing security worries and the government’s determination to take decisive action against illegal residents. Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to act swiftly while maintaining proper procedures during arrests and deportations.

The development has sparked discussions about bilateral relations with Afghanistan and the need for stronger border management. Pakistani authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure effective implementation of the new orders.
