Pakistan’s security forces have eliminated three more militants during the ongoing Operation Shaban in Balochistan, taking the total number of terrorists killed in the operation to 88, according to security sources.
The large scale operation was launched after the deadly terrorist attack on the Mangi Dam police station in Ziarat. It is being carried out jointly by the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, and Balochistan Police with the aim of dismantling militant networks operating across the province.
According to security officials, the operation includes both ground offensives and aerial strikes against terrorist hideouts. Security forces have successfully targeted multiple militant locations, destroying their safe havens and disrupting their activities. Officials stated that the campaign will continue until every terrorist threat in the province is neutralized.
Security sources further revealed that 126 militants have been killed in Operation Shaban and other intelligence based operations conducted across Balochistan since July 5. Authorities described the ongoing campaign as one of the most significant counterterrorism efforts in the region in recent months.
During the latest operations, security personnel also recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition, including submachine guns, rocket launchers, mobile phones, and other military equipment believed to have been used by the militants.
Earlier this month, 42 people, including security personnel and civilians, embraced martyrdom in three separate terrorist attacks across Balochistan. The attacks prompted an intensified military response to restore peace and prevent future violence.
Last week, ISPR Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that militants backed by India attacked the Mangi checkpoint, where police officers fought courageously and eliminated 15 terrorists during the initial confrontation. Nine police personnel were martyred before additional security forces arrived to regain control of the area.
Pakistan has witnessed a rise in terrorist incidents, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since 2021. Security forces continue to conduct operations aimed at eliminating militant groups and strengthening national security across the country.
