The Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui led a key consultative meeting of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan on Tuesday to finalize the party’s strategy regarding the Federal Budget 2026-27 and the future development of urban Sindh.

According to the party spokesperson, the meeting focused on reviewing the recently approved federal budget and discussing MQM-P’s proposed amendments and demands. Senior party leaders, including Kamran Tessori, Farooq Sattar, and Aminul Haque, were present during the discussions.

The leadership examined various budget proposals and developed a roadmap for negotiations with the federal government to secure more resources for Karachi Karachi and Hyderabad Hyderabad. The party emphasized the importance of increasing development funds for infrastructure, civic facilities, and public welfare projects in urban areas.

A major topic of discussion was Article 140-A, which deals with the transfer of powers to local governments. MQM-P leaders stressed the need for constitutional amendments to ensure stronger local governance and better administrative control for city-level authorities.

The meeting also covered the issue of the Sindh governorship, with party leaders discussing strategies aimed at regaining the position as part of broader political negotiations.

In addition, MQM-P resolved to approach the relevant government departments to ensure that ongoing development schemes are completed on time and that new projects are included in the fiscal plan. The party believes these initiatives are essential for addressing long-standing urban challenges and improving living standards across Sindh’s major cities.
