Mir Hussain Ali, father of the late Mir Raza Ali, has demanded the suspension of Karachi East DIG Dr Farrukh Ali and several other police officers. He claims they delayed the probe and tried to hide important evidence in his son’s murder case. Speaking to journalists on Friday, the grieving father also called for the suspension of the Ferozabad SHO. He said the officers “played a game” with the family instead of delivering justice.
Mir Raza Ali, a 25-year-old IBA graduate and businessman, went missing on 28 July. His body was found the next day in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Police first treated the death as a possible suicide. The father strongly rejected this view. He has maintained from the beginning that his son was kidnapped, tortured and killed.
The family recently opposed sending the deceased’s smartwatch to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency. Their lawyer Jibran Nasir asked for the device to be examined at the Punjab Forensic Science Agency instead. He pointed out that the smartwatch stayed with the former committee head for several days before it reached the NCCIA. The family fears possible tampering and wants an independent forensic check.
A new investigation team has taken charge of the case. The team held a meeting at Ferozabad police station and then visited the incident site to collect more evidence. Committee members spoke to nursery staff and reviewed details with the previous investigating officer. The team has already written four letters to the NCCIA requesting forensic analysis of the smartwatch and details of the young man’s social media and digital accounts.
Fresh post-mortem findings revealed a gunshot injury on the back along with other marks. Chemical tests found acid particles and gunshot residue on the shirt. Blood tests showed sedatives in the system, and DNA results matched the parents. Earlier, the original medico-legal officer was removed after serious lapses were found in the first examination.
The court has set 15 August as the deadline for the investigation report. The family continues to press for a transparent and unbiased inquiry so that those responsible for Mir Raza Ali’s death are brought to justice.
