Karachi temperature drop as citizens travel through foggy cold morning after mercury falls sharply

Karachi temperature drop brought one of the coldest nights of the winter, leaving residents feeling an unusual chill across the city. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the lowest temperature was recorded at Jinnah Terminal, where the mercury fell to 7.1°C, surprising many Karachiites.

Other parts of the city also experienced cold conditions. Gulistan e Johar recorded 9.8°C, Bin Qasim saw temperatures around 10.1°C, while Mauripur reported 11°C. Overall, the average minimum temperature in Karachi remained close to 9.3°C, making the night noticeably colder than usual for a coastal city.

Residents reported feeling the cold more strongly during the early morning hours, especially in open and coastal areas. Many people took extra precautions, wearing warm clothing and limiting outdoor activities due to the sharp temperature drop.

The weather department has forecast dry conditions for the next 24 hours. Daytime weather is expected to remain pleasant, with temperatures ranging between 24°C and 26°C. Light north easterly winds are also expected to blow at a speed of around 7 kilometers per hour.

The cold spell was not limited to Karachi alone. Several other parts of Sindh experienced very low temperatures. Mohenjo Daro recorded 3°C, Mithi dropped to 4°C, and Larkana saw temperatures around 4.5°C. This widespread cold wave has made the current winter period one of the most notable of the season.
