European Union Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas is set to visit Pakistan for important diplomatic engagements and the eighth EU Pakistan Strategic Dialogue, marking another step forward in the relationship between the two partners. The high level visit reflects the growing importance of cooperation between Pakistan and the European Union across political, economic, security, and development sectors.

During her visit to Islamabad, Kaja Kallas, who serves as the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, will co-chair the strategic dialogue alongside Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The meeting is expected to review progress made under the Strategic Engagement Plan, which was signed in 2019 to strengthen long term collaboration between both sides.

The strategic dialogue serves as the highest platform for discussions between Pakistan and the European Union. Officials are expected to discuss a wide range of issues, including trade cooperation, regional stability, climate action, development partnerships, migration management, and security cooperation. The talks will also focus on identifying new opportunities for future engagement and strengthening existing partnerships.

As part of her official schedule, Kallas will meet President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir. These meetings are expected to highlight mutual interests and explore ways to expand bilateral cooperation in various sectors.

In addition to government engagements, Kallas is also expected to interact with representatives from think tanks, academic institutions, and policy circles, reflecting the European Union’s commitment to engaging with a broad range of stakeholders in Pakistan.

The visit demonstrates the continued commitment of both Pakistan and the European Union to maintaining strong diplomatic ties. With regular high-level contacts and institutional dialogues, both sides aim to deepen cooperation and address regional and global challenges through constructive engagement and partnership.
