Aleema Khan has approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the alleged solitary confinement of her brother and former prime minister Imran Khan, claiming that his detention conditions are unlawful and violate constitutional rights.

The petition was submitted through Barrister Salman Safdar and Salman Akram Raja, requesting the court to declare the former premier’s alleged incommunicado detention illegal. According to the plea, no judicial order has ever directed that Imran Khan be kept in solitary confinement while serving his sentence at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

The petition further stated that the PTI founder’s legal team is allegedly being denied regular access for consultations and for obtaining signatures on legal documents, including power of attorney papers. Aleema Khan argued that these restrictions are affecting Khan’s legal rights and ability to prepare his defense in multiple ongoing cases.

In the petition, it was claimed that the alleged treatment violates Articles 9 and 14 of the Constitution of Pakistan, which guarantee the right to life, liberty, and human dignity. Aleema also maintained that prolonged isolation without legal justification amounts to unlawful detention.

Concerns regarding Imran Khan’s health have also been repeatedly raised by his family and party leaders. They have alleged that both Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi require proper medical attention, especially after recent eye procedures. PTI leaders continue demanding improved medical facilities and greater access for family meetings.

The federal government and jail authorities, however, have rejected claims of solitary confinement and poor treatment. Officials insist that the former prime minister is receiving all facilities according to jail regulations.

Imran Khan, who has been jailed since August 2023, continues to face several legal cases following his removal from office through a no confidence vote in April 2022. While some convictions have been suspended or overturned, multiple appeals are still pending before higher courts. Khan has consistently denied all allegations against him.
