Pakistan cricket fans will not see Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub in action during the upcoming one-day international series against Australia, as both opening batters are still recovering from injuries.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that the two left-handed openers are unavailable for selection for the three-match ODI series, which begins on May 30, 2026. According to the board, both players are undergoing rehabilitation under the supervision of the PCB medical panel and will continue their recovery programs until they are fully fit.

The absence of Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub is a significant setback for Pakistan. Fakhar is known for his aggressive batting and ability to dominate bowling attacks, while Saim Ayub has emerged as one of Pakistan’s most promising young talents. Their partnership at the top of the order has provided Pakistan with explosive starts in recent matches.

The ODI series against Australia will start at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on May 30. The second and third matches will take place at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore on June 2 and June 4. All matches are scheduled to begin at 4:30 PM local time.

Australia last played an ODI series in Pakistan in 2022, where Pakistan won the series 2-1. Earlier this year, Pakistan also swept Australia 3-0 in a T20I series in Lahore.

The PCB said updates regarding the final squad and the fitness of both players will be shared soon. Fans are hopeful that Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub will make a speedy recovery and return to international cricket as soon as possible.
