Security forces have achieved a major success against militants in Peshawar. The Counter Terrorism Department carried out a precise operation in the Shamshatoo Camp area and killed five terrorists. Among those neutralised was a high-profile commander named Imran who carried a bounty of Rs120 million on his head.
According to the CTD spokesperson, Imran was wanted in at least 20 terrorism cases. He was allegedly involved in the killings of JUI-F leader Maulana Khan Zeb, Senator Hidayatullah and Rehan Zeb. Officials also named him as the suspected mastermind behind the suicide attack on Tarlai Imambargah. Another militant killed in the same raid, identified as Shahidullah, had reportedly conducted reconnaissance for that attack.
During the operation, security personnel recovered an SMG, four pistols, two hand grenades and an improvised explosive device from the terrorists. The successful raid forms part of intensified efforts against militant groups across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
This action comes just a week after security forces neutralised a large number of terrorists in the province. Between September 3 and 5, forces killed at least 21 militants described as India-backed Fitna al-Khawarij. In one engagement, troops first eliminated 15 terrorists who tried to infiltrate and later killed ten more who had taken shelter in the area, bringing the total to 25.
Pakistan has faced a sharp rise in terror incidents since 2021, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. A recent report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies showed that these two provinces accounted for nearly 96 percent of all violence-related deaths in the second quarter of 2026. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone recorded more than 61 percent of the fatalities and the highest number of violent incidents nationwide.
The latest CTD Peshawar operation reflects the continued determination of security agencies to dismantle terrorist networks and protect citizens. Officials remain committed to targeting both high-value commanders and their support structures through intelligence-based actions across the province.
