A major breakthrough has been made in the investigation of the attack on PML-N MPA Ayub Gadhi, as three suspects linked to the incident were killed during a police operation in Rajana, Toba Tek Singh.
According to a spokesperson for the Crime Control Department (CCD), a special team conducted a raid in Rajana to arrest individuals allegedly involved in the armed attack on the former provincial minister. As the CCD personnel approached the suspects, they reportedly came under heavy gunfire.
Officials stated that the suspects opened indiscriminate fire on the raiding team in an attempt to avoid arrest. The CCD responded to the attack, resulting in an exchange of fire. During the operation, three suspects were killed, while two others were arrested and taken into custody for further investigation.
Authorities believe the deceased suspects were directly involved in the attack on Ayub Gadhi’s residence last month. During that incident, Gadhi sustained injuries, while four of his associates lost their lives. The attack sparked widespread concern across Punjab and led to calls for swift action against those responsible.
Following the shooting, Ayub Gadhi was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for medical treatment. The incident drew immediate attention from the country’s top leadership.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered authorities to identify and arrest all individuals connected to the attack. Similarly, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure justice for the victims.
The chief minister also expressed condolences to the families of those who were killed and instructed health officials to provide the best available treatment to the injured.
The latest CCD operation is being viewed as a significant step toward bringing those responsible for the deadly attack to justice. Investigations remain ongoing as authorities continue efforts to identify any additional suspects connected to the case.
