Similarly, high speed diesel is also expected to see an increase of about Rs5.40 per litre, bringing its estimated price close to Rs273.78 per litre. Other fuel products, including kerosene oil and light diesel oil, could also become more expensive with anticipated hikes of Rs4 and Rs6.55 per litre respectively.
The final decision will be made by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority after consultations with the Ministry of Finance and the prime minister. Officials usually review global oil prices, currency fluctuations, and domestic fiscal policies before confirming the revised rates.
