Pakistan has strongly accused India of sponsoring terrorism against its territory through proxies based in Afghanistan. Speaking at the United Nations, Pakistani diplomat Muhammad Jawad Ajmal made the claim while responding to remarks by the Indian representative.
Ajmal, counsellor at Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the UN, said India is providing material and logistical support to the Taliban government in Afghanistan. He claimed this support is being given under the cover of humanitarian assistance and is being used to facilitate terrorist attacks on Pakistan.
According to the Pakistani envoy, India’s growing engagement with the Taliban is no coincidence. He alleged that New Delhi is using Afghan territory to support militant groups such as the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). Pakistan refers to these groups as Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan.
Ajmal stated that Pakistan has repeatedly warned the international community about India’s attempts to create instability in the region. He also accused India of human rights violations, promoting Islamophobia, and trying to change the demographic character of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions.
The diplomat pointed to the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav, whom Pakistan describes as a serving Indian naval officer involved in espionage, sabotage, and terrorist activities inside Pakistan. Ajmal called Jadhav’s capture clear evidence of Indian state terrorism that resulted in the deaths of many civilians, including women and children.
He further claimed that India has been involved in extraterritorial killings and assassination plots abroad. He mentioned the case of Nikhil Gupta, who pleaded guilty in the United States to a plot targeting a Sikh separatist leader, and the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. Ajmal said such actions have become a global pattern of India’s illegal activities.
The Pakistani envoy stressed that Islamabad remains fully aware of the cost of India-sponsored terrorism. He declared that Pakistan will take all necessary steps to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity, people, and security. At the same time, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to resolving disputes peacefully in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.
Ajmal also briefly referred to India’s military operation known as Operation Sindoor in May 2025 and Pakistan’s subsequent response, noting that the international community had already witnessed those events.
Pakistan’s statement at the UN highlights the ongoing tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors and the complex security situation involving Afghanistan.
