Pakistan took firm control on the second day of the second Test against the West Indies in Port of Spain. At stumps, the visitors stood at 266 for 2, trailing the hosts by just 78 runs after a dominant batting display.
Abdullah Shafique led the charge with an unbeaten century. Playing his first Test since October 2025, he remained not out on 107 from 185 balls, hitting 10 fours and two sixes. Captain Babar Azam provided solid support with a composed 86 not out from 126 deliveries, including 10 fours and one six. The pair shared an unbroken third-wicket partnership of 168 runs.
Pakistan had resumed their first innings at 139 for 2 in reply to the West Indies total of 344. They lost opener Imam-ul-Haq early for 14. Abdullah then joined Azan Awais and the two added 64 runs for the second wicket. Left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican broke the stand by trapping Awais lbw for 55.
Once Babar walked in, the momentum stayed with Pakistan. The two batters dominated the final session and left the home attack searching for answers.
Earlier, the West Indies were bowled out for 344. Overnight batters Justin Greaves (73) and captain Roston Chase (70) added useful runs before the lower order collapsed. Sajid Khan was the pick of the Pakistani bowlers with four wickets for 85 runs. Mohammad Ali, Ali Usman and Ubaid Shah took two wickets each.
With Abdullah and Babar still at the crease and looking solid, Pakistan are well placed to take a strong first-innings lead. The third day promises more action as the visitors aim to build a commanding total in this Pakistan West Indies Test.
