Student Calls Out Pakistani Agent Label Amid Protests
Young voices in India are speaking up louder than ever after weeks of intense demonstrations. Student Neha Bora, who joined a 23-day hunger strike, has strongly criticized how the media and others branded peaceful protesters as Pakistani agents. She believes this label is nothing more than a tool to quiet dissent and distract from real issues.
Thousands of students had gathered at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over repeated examination paper leaks. The protests grew after young people marched toward parliament, calling for accountability and fairness in the education system. Neha, who stood with them throughout, said the same accusation once used against people in Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is now being thrown at students fighting for their rights in the capital.
“Today, when students are protesting for their rights, they are being called ‘Pakistani agents’,” Neha stated clearly. She pointed out that silence over violence in Kashmir has now allowed similar pressure tactics to reach places like Connaught Place in Delhi. According to her, people are finally realizing that earlier claims of this kind were false and only meant to silence criticism.
The demonstrations ended after the education minister stepped down and the government promised to meet the protesters’ demands. These included compensation for those harmed by exam irregularities and the withdrawal of legal cases filed against demonstrators, as shared by CJP spokesman Ashutosh Ranka.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded by announcing a special task force led by tech entrepreneur Nandan Nilekani. The group will work to fix India’s examination system completely. Modi stressed that the process must become trustworthy, transparent, and technology-driven. New laws to stop paper leaks are also set to be introduced in parliament soon.
This wave of youth-led action has shown how determined students are to protect their future. By calling out the Pakistani agent label, Neha and others have highlighted how such tags are used to undermine legitimate demands. The focus remains on creating a fair education system where every student’s hard work is respected and protected from unfair practices.
