Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a major education package aimed at improving learning opportunities and student welfare across the province. Speaking at a ceremony in Arifwala, she revealed that the Punjab government will provide 100,000 free electric bikes, 100,000 laptops, and 50,000 merit based scholarships for deserving students.
The chief minister also announced that Nawaz Sharif Schools of Eminence will be established in every tehsil of Punjab. She said the government is transforming public schools into modern educational institutions where students from all backgrounds can receive the same quality of education and facilities.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized that education is the strongest tool for eliminating social inequality and creating equal opportunities for every child. She encouraged students to proudly study in government schools, adding that the provincial government is committed to providing facilities similar to those available in expensive private institutions.
Highlighting ongoing education reforms, she said the Punjab government is investing Rs40 billion to upgrade government schools. The project includes the construction of new classrooms, improved furniture, clean drinking water, modern washrooms, fans, and other essential facilities to create a better learning environment.
The chief minister also shared that science, technology, mathematics, computer, IT, and Artificial Intelligence labs are being established across schools. She urged students to focus on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Robotics, describing these skills as essential for future careers and global competitiveness.
Maryam Nawaz also stressed the importance of student safety. She requested parents to keep children away from unsafe locations during the rainy season after expressing sorrow over the recent deaths of children caused by the collapse of an under construction building.
She further noted that the government is expanding the network of green electric buses to provide safe and comfortable transportation for students. According to the chief minister, this initiative marks only the beginning of Punjab’s education reforms, with plans to establish 300 modern schools across the province in the near future.
