Novak Djokovic produced another unforgettable performance at Wimbledon 2026, defeating Felix Auger Aliassime in a thrilling five set battle to book his place in the semi finals. The Serbian legend overcame injury concerns and immense pressure to claim a 7-6, 3-6, 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 victory in the longest Wimbledon men’s quarter final ever, lasting an incredible five hours and 15 minutes.

The 39 year old showed remarkable determination after suffering a calf injury early in the match. Despite the setback, Djokovic relied on his experience, mental strength and resilience to outlast the Canadian third seed in a contest that kept Centre Court captivated until the final point.

After the match, Djokovic admitted that his heart and composure were just as important as his tennis skills. He said controlling his emotions during the tense moments made the difference and described the match as one of the greatest experiences of his Wimbledon career. He also joked that he had encouraged his children to go to bed but was delighted they stayed to witness such an unforgettable encounter.

The victory sends Djokovic into his 15th Wimbledon men’s semi final, extending his own tournament record. He has now reached the last four at Wimbledon for the eighth consecutive edition, surpassing Roger Federer’s previous record for the longest streak of men’s singles semi final appearances at the All England Club. He also advanced to his 55th Grand Slam semi final, adding another remarkable milestone to his legendary career.

Djokovic’s next challenge will be defending champion and world number one Jannik Sinner, who comfortably defeated Germany’s Jan Lennard Struff in straight sets. While Sinner enjoyed a much shorter match, Djokovic will hope he can recover physically before Friday’s blockbuster showdown.

Elsewhere, Coco Gauff and Karolina Muchova reached their first Wimbledon semi finals in the women’s draw. Gauff defeated Jessica Pegula in three sets, while Muchova overcame Naomi Osaka to set up an exciting clash. In the men’s competition, Alexander Zverev completed his delayed victory over Jiri Lehecka and will now face Taylor Fritz in the quarter finals.
