Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are ready to finalize and sign a comprehensive economic package under the patronage of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS). The development came during a telephone conversation between the two leaders, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office.
During the discussion, Prime Minister Shehbaz congratulated the Saudi crown prince on the successful signing of the Islamabad Peace Deal, describing it as a significant diplomatic achievement. He also thanked Saudi Arabia for its continued support in promoting peace and stability in the region.
The prime minister acknowledged the Kingdom’s constructive role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States, emphasizing that Saudi Arabia’s support, alongside that of other Gulf nations, helped create conditions that led to the agreement. He praised Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his leadership and commitment to regional peace efforts.
The Saudi crown prince, in turn, congratulated Pakistan on its diplomatic role and commended the efforts of Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for contributing to the successful negotiations that resulted in the peace agreement.
Both leaders agreed that the next stage of discussions between Iran and the United States should continue through diplomacy and constructive engagement. They stressed the importance of remaining alert against any attempts to undermine the ongoing negotiation process.
The conversation also focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation. Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed satisfaction with the growing relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and reiterated his invitation for Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to visit Pakistan at a mutually convenient time.
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close coordination on regional and international matters. The expected economic package is being viewed as a major step toward enhancing trade, investment, and economic cooperation between the two countries, further strengthening their long standing strategic partnership.
