Sindh police is set to undergo major modernisation with the introduction of AI and drone units. Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho has formed a high-level committee to bring the provincial police force up to date with modern requirements and technology.

The committee, chaired by Additional IG Establishment Training Iqbal Dara, includes senior officers such as DIGs from Establishment and West Zone, AIGs from State Management, Finance, and East Zone Investigation. The AIG Establishment will serve as the secretary of this body. Its main task is to thoroughly review and recommend the creation of new specialized units within the Sindh police.

Key areas under consideration include establishing dedicated artificial intelligence wings, cybercrime divisions, drone operation units for aerial surveillance, special investigation teams, enhanced security forces, and professional media and strategic communication units. The committee will also assess the urgent need for skilled IT experts and technically qualified personnel to strengthen modern policing capabilities.

According to officials, the body will conduct a detailed technical evaluation to determine the required number of new positions. A clear strategy will be developed for recruiting fresh talent or reassigning existing police officers into these advanced roles. This initiative aims to make Sindh police more efficient, responsive, and capable of tackling contemporary challenges like cyber threats, aerial monitoring, and data-driven investigations.

This move comes as law enforcement agencies across Pakistan look to adopt the latest technologies to improve crime prevention and public safety. The formation of this committee signals a strong commitment by the Sindh police leadership toward digital transformation and professional growth. Once implemented, these changes are expected to significantly boost operational effectiveness and bring Sindh police in line with global standards of modern policing.
