Pakistan has stepped into a critical diplomatic role as Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held high level meetings with Iran’s top civil and military leadership in Tehran amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States. The meetings come at a sensitive moment when both countries are struggling to finalize a possible agreement aimed at ending months of conflict and regional instability.

Naqvi met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, IRGC Commander General Ahmad Vahidi, and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni during his visit to Tehran. According to Iranian state media, discussions focused on the latest progress in indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington, regional peace efforts, and stronger cooperation among Islamic nations.

Reports from regional media suggest that Islamabad may soon host another round of US Iran negotiations after Hajj. Sources claim that the final draft of a possible agreement is being prepared, with Pakistan continuing its role as a mediator between both sides. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei confirmed that diplomatic contacts are still ongoing through Pakistani channels.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump warned that if negotiations fail, military action against Iran remains possible. Despite the warning, Saudi Arabia has publicly supported diplomatic efforts and praised Pakistan’s role in trying to reduce tensions in the region.

Iran continues to insist on the removal of US sanctions and recognition of its rights as key conditions for any agreement. At the same time, Washington reportedly wants stricter controls on Iran’s nuclear activities and missile program.

The Middle East conflict, which began after coordinated US and Israeli attacks on Iran earlier this year, has heavily impacted regional security and global energy markets. Although a ceasefire is mostly holding, uncertainty remains high as both sides continue difficult negotiations through international mediators.
