All Punjab schools remain open today after officials reject a fake holiday notice circulating online. Authorities confirmed that educational institutions across the province will function normally on Monday, October 12. A spokesperson from the Punjab School Education Department stated clearly that no official decision was made to shut any schools. People were advised to ignore the misleading message spreading on social media.
The Punjab Higher Education Department also dismissed a similar false notice. It claimed that public and private colleges and universities would stay closed. Officials confirmed that higher education institutions will operate as usual without any interruption.
In contrast, authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa announced targeted closures in selected districts due to security concerns. In Peshawar, all public and private educational institutions will remain closed on Monday following an official announcement issued on Sunday.
In Malakand district, every public and private school and college will stay shut for two full days. The district administration issued a clear notification regarding this temporary measure.
Lower Dir authorities also ordered the closure of all public and private schools, colleges, and universities on October 12 and 13. These decisions aim to ensure the safety of students and staff in the affected areas.
Examination boards have taken additional steps. The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Bannu postponed all Secondary School Certificate Annual-II examination papers scheduled for Monday. Revised dates will be announced later.
The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Malakand similarly postponed all SSC Annual-II 2026 examination papers until further orders. The announcement appeared on the board’s official website.
These district-level closures and exam postponements reflect heightened security concerns in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Parents and students in Punjab can continue with their regular schedules, while those in the affected KP districts should follow the official instructions. Always rely on verified government sources for updates instead of unverified social media posts.
