Pakistan and Qatar have taken a significant step forward in strengthening their partnership on internal security matters. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held an important meeting with his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, in Doha on Tuesday. The two leaders focused on practical ways to expand cooperation between their interior ministries and work more closely on issues that affect regional peace and stability.
According to the Ministry of Interior, both sides held detailed discussions on sharing expertise and coordinating efforts in areas linked to internal security. They reaffirmed their strong commitment to building closer ties and agreed that enhanced collaboration would benefit both countries. Naqvi highlighted that Pakistan and Qatar are already working together to promote calm and stability across the region. He stressed Islamabad’s readiness to continue engaging with Doha on matters of mutual interest, especially those connected to security and long-term regional order.
The Qatari interior minister responded positively, noting that his country places high value on its relationship with Pakistan. This meeting came one day after Naqvi spoke at the 8th Global Security Forum in Doha. During that address, he pointed out that the two nations have consistently supported each other in efforts to reduce tensions and encourage dialogue.
Naqvi also recalled Pakistan’s role in trying to bring the United States and Iran to the negotiating table. He explained that there were difficult moments when tensions rose sharply, yet Islamabad stayed committed to diplomacy. He praised Qatar’s mediation efforts between Washington and Tehran, saying both countries had worked side by side to prevent further escalation. “Peace cannot be achieved in a single meeting. It requires patience, trust and continuous efforts,” Naqvi said, underlining the need for sustained engagement.
These talks take place against a backdrop of ongoing regional challenges, including conflict in Yemen and concerns over the Strait of Hormuz. By focusing on practical security cooperation, Pakistan and Qatar are sending a clear message that they prefer dialogue and partnership over confrontation. The agreement to deepen internal security ties marks another positive chapter in the longstanding friendship between the two nations and reflects their shared interest in a more stable region.
