A 15-year-old orphan named Waseem was allegedly chased and run over by his employer in a Multan housing society, leading to the man’s arrest on murder charges.
Police confirmed that the boy, who lived at an NGO-run orphanage, had been sent to the suspect just seven days earlier. Multan City Police Officer Akhtar Farooq explained that the orphanage administration placed Waseem with Tauqeer, an electrician who worked on different buildings, so the teenager could learn the trade. The boy had been helping with electrical work at the man’s house.
According to investigators, Waseem decided to leave the job that day. This prompted Tauqeer to chase after him. CCTV footage from the private housing society shows the 15-year-old running on foot before a car strikes him. The impact proved fatal. Police stressed that early checks found no sign the boy had stolen anything.
Some staff members from the orphanage have been detained for questioning. Officers are looking into how children from the facility were previously sent to Tauqeer for training and the exact events that led to this tragedy. A formal murder case has been registered with the police acting as the complainant.
Waseem originally came from Muzaffargarh. After the incident his body was taken there by his uncle and maternal uncle. Funeral prayers took place in the village of Daultpur, and he was buried in the family graveyard. Only close relatives and a few orphanage officials attended. The funeral happened quickly because of the condition of the body.
Police continue to investigate every detail. The arrest of the suspect and the ongoing probe into the orphanage’s role highlight serious questions about the safety of vulnerable children placed in vocational training. Local authorities have promised a thorough inquiry so that justice is served for the young orphan who lost his life in such a shocking manner.
