President Asif Ali Zardari recently honored the bravery and dedication of the nation’s defenders by conferring 47 military awards during a prestigious investiture ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr. The event, held on May 14, 2026, served as a significant tribute to officers and soldiers who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and selfless service in the line of duty.
A deeply moving highlight of the ceremony was the posthumous recognition of three martyred heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country. Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Ali Shaukat, Sepoy Soban Majeed Baloch, and Sepoy Israr Muhammad were each awarded the Sitara-e-Basalat. These posthumous honors reflect the highest gratitude for their acts of gallantry and sacrifice, ensuring that their legacy of courage is permanently etched in the nation’s history.
In addition to the gallantry awards, the President conferred the Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) upon 44 senior officers across all branches of the Pakistan Armed Forces. From the Pakistan Army, 31 Major Generals were honored for their meritorious services. The Pakistan Navy saw seven Rear Admirals receive the distinction, while the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) had six high-ranking officials recognized, including two Air Marshals and four Air Vice Marshals. These awards underscore the professional excellence and strategic leadership that maintain the country’s defense integrity.
The ceremony was attended by high-profile figures, including First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari and Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, alongside the proud families of the recipients. By celebrating both the living and the fallen, the state reaffirmed its commitment to acknowledging the military’s role in safeguarding Pakistan’s peace and stability.
