Pakistan Border Strikes Kill 26 Militants Near Afghan Frontier

Pakistan has intensified its counter-terrorism efforts after carrying out precision strikes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, resulting in the deaths of at least 26 militants. According to Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, the operation targeted terrorist hideouts, training facilities, and ammunition storage sites linked to groups involved in recent attacks inside Pakistan.

The military action came shortly after a deadly terrorist assault on a Federal Constabulary post in Hassan Khel, where six security personnel embraced martyrdom and several others sustained injuries. Officials stated that militants launched a surprise midnight attack, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.

According to the government, the recent operation was based on credible intelligence reports and focused on eliminating key elements responsible for planning and facilitating terrorist activities. Authorities confirmed that four major militant facilities were completely destroyed during the strikes, including a training center, a hideout, an ammunition depot, and operational command locations associated with extremist leaders.

The government stated that the operation specifically targeted members of Fitna al Khwarij, a term used by Pakistani authorities for the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Officials also claimed that the militants were receiving foreign support and posed a serious threat to national security.

Pakistan has experienced a noticeable rise in terrorist incidents, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since 2021. Security forces have continued conducting intelligence-led operations to dismantle terrorist networks and prevent future attacks.

Minister Tarar reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to regional peace and stability. However, he emphasized that protecting citizens and safeguarding national security remain top priorities. He added that the government’s ongoing Azm-e-Istehkam campaign will continue with full determination to eliminate terrorism and restore lasting peace across the country.

The latest operation highlights Pakistan’s continued resolve to counter cross-border militancy and strengthen security in vulnerable border regions.
