Pakistan Army launched strong retaliatory strikes on Friday and destroyed several Afghan Taliban posts and military installations near South Waziristan and Parachinar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Security sources confirmed the action came after unprovoked firing by Kabul regime personnel on October 27 in the Angoor Adda area.
According to the sources, Afghan Taliban fighters abandoned their positions and fled once the Pakistan Army opened fire. Reports also spoke of multiple casualties among the Taliban personnel during the operation. The strikes targeted posts right across the border in response to the earlier attack.
Just two days earlier, on Wednesday, security forces had already hit multiple Afghan Taliban checkposts. That action followed an unprovoked assault on civilians in South Waziristan’s Angoor Adda bazaar. A mortar shell killed one person and injured five members of the same family. Several shops were also damaged in the firing.
The Lower South Waziristan Deputy Commissioner stated that Afghan Taliban forces opened fire without any reason on the busy market and nearby homes. Pakistani troops stationed along the border gave an immediate and forceful reply. Security sources added that the Pakistan Army quickly destroyed several enemy checkposts on the other side.
Cross-border violence has become common in the Angoor Adda sector. In late April, mortar shelling from Afghanistan injured civilians and damaged houses in South Waziristan. Pakistani forces again targeted Afghan Taliban positions in response. Similar hostilities had flared in February when Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq.
Islamabad has repeatedly asked the Kabul regime to stop militant groups from using Afghan soil to attack Pakistan. The latest strikes show that the Pakistan Army will continue to respond firmly whenever its territory or citizens come under fire. Security sources stressed that the posts were completely destroyed and the remaining Afghan Taliban personnel were forced to leave the area.
Local residents in the border regions remain concerned about repeated shelling, yet they appreciate the swift action taken by Pakistani forces to protect them. The situation stays tense, but the message from Islamabad is clear: any unprovoked attack will meet a strong and immediate reply.
