Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised China for its unwavering friendship and continued support for Pakistan, saying Beijing has always stood firmly beside Islamabad during every difficult moment. He made these remarks while addressing a ceremony in Islamabad celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
Speaking at the event, the prime minister described the Pakistan-China friendship as a timeless and unique relationship built on trust, cooperation, and mutual respect. He said China had supported Pakistan through natural disasters, economic challenges, and international issues, adding that the friendship between the two countries had only become stronger with time.
PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s strong commitment to the One China policy, stating that Islamabad fully supports Beijing on its core interests. He also highlighted the importance of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), calling it a major project that has helped strengthen Pakistan’s economy and create employment opportunities for thousands of people.
The premier further praised China’s rapid economic growth and poverty reduction efforts, saying the country had lifted nearly 800 million people out of poverty under its visionary leadership. He also appreciated Beijing for supporting educational initiatives, including scholarships and training opportunities for Pakistani students.
On regional matters, the prime minister said Pakistan was playing a constructive role in reducing tensions in the Middle East and appreciated China’s support for Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts. He assured that Pakistan would continue providing maximum security to Chinese nationals working in the country.
President Asif Ali Zardari also addressed the ceremony and congratulated both nations on completing 75 years of diplomatic partnership. He praised Chinese President Xi Jinping for leading China towards historic economic progress and development. President Zardari termed CPEC a transformative initiative for Pakistan’s future and reaffirmed that both countries would continue working together for peace, stability, trade, and regional cooperation.
