Naseem Shah Suffers Knee Injury During PSL 11 Match

Rawalpindiz’s pacer Naseem Shah was forced off the field during a tense Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 match against Islamabad United on April 23, 2026, after suffering a knee injury while fielding. The incident took place in the 16th over of United’s innings when Faheem Ashraf swept a delivery from Saad Masood toward deep backward square leg. Naseem made a diving attempt to stop the ball but landed awkwardly and injured his left knee.

The 23-year-old pacer appeared to be in significant pain, favoring his left leg as he received medical attention on the field. He was soon carried off, with the Rawalpindiz confirming that Naseem had sustained an injury to his left knee. The medical team was quickly assessing the severity of the injury.

This injury comes as a setback for Naseem, who had just returned to action after recovering from a side-strain injury. He had missed several games, including Rawalpindiz’s third match against Karachi Kings on April 2, due to the side strain. Mubasir Khan had been brought in as his replacement for that period.

The franchise had been already dealing with the absence of another key player, Zaman Khan, who was ruled out of the tournament due to a shoulder injury sustained during the National T20 Cup. Naseem’s fresh injury adds to Rawalpindiz’s growing list of injury concerns as the team battles to remain competitive in the ongoing PSL tournament.
