Pakistan’s security forces successfully eliminated two militants, including an Afghan national, during a targeted operation in Mohmand district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to security sources. The operation was carried out as part of the country’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and dismantle militant networks operating near the Pakistan Afghanistan border.

Sources revealed that one of the militants was identified as Umar Bilal, a resident of Khost province in Afghanistan. Officials said the militant was carrying an Afghan identification card, foreign currency, modern weapons, and a suicide vest at the time of the operation. The recovery of these items reinforced concerns about cross border militant activities and the continued presence of foreign fighters involved in terrorist operations.

The operation took place on June 4 and forms part of a broader security campaign aimed at eliminating extremist threats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Pakistani security forces have intensified intelligence based operations in recent months due to an increase in militant attacks targeting security personnel and civilians.

The development comes shortly after Pakistan carried out precision strikes along the Afghanistan border, targeting militant hideouts believed to be linked to recent terrorist incidents inside the country. According to Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, at least 26 militants were killed in those operations.

Officials stated that the strikes were launched following several major attacks, including an assault on a Federal Constabulary post in Musa Dara, a suicide attack on a military installation in North Waziristan, and an attack on a police station in Bannu.

Pakistan has witnessed a rise in terrorism related incidents since 2021, particularly in border regions. Security officials have repeatedly expressed concerns about militant groups using safe havens across the border to plan and launch attacks.

The government has continued to strengthen counter terrorism measures through intelligence operations, border security initiatives, and targeted actions against extremist networks. Authorities maintain that efforts will continue until all threats to national security are effectively neutralized.
