Pakistan has strongly condemned the recent attack on the Taibah power distribution station in Madina, describing it as a “grave provocation.” The Foreign Office issued a statement on Friday expressing deep concern over the incident that targeted civilian infrastructure supplying electricity to the Holy Prophet’s Mosque.
The statement said the reprehensible attack is a matter of anguish for millions of Muslims around the world. Islamabad called for an immediate and unconditional end to such reckless actions, which it said also pose a serious threat to regional peace and security.
The condemnation came a day after the Saudi-led coalition accused Yemen’s Houthis of carrying out the strike. According to the coalition, the attack put one transformer out of service but did not disrupt the wider electricity network. Pakistan reaffirmed its unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia and expressed full support for the kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security.
“We stand firmly with Saudi Arabia in its efforts to safeguard the Two Holy Mosques, protect its people and ensure the safety of pilgrims,” the Foreign Office said. It added that Pakistan has always worked and will continue to work for lasting peace and stability in the region.
The Madina attack is the latest in a series of incidents that have raised tensions. Last month Saudi Arabia reported intercepting and destroying a Houthi drone south of Makkah before it could enter restricted airspace. The coalition described that event as the second attempt to target Makkah since 2017. The Houthis have denied aiming at any Islamic holy sites.
The coalition has also reported intercepting a ballistic missile launched toward the southern Saudi city of Khamis Mushait. Local officials in Yemen said the Houthis targeted the headquarters of the Saudi-led coalition forces in Aden with missiles and drones early on Friday.
Pakistan’s clear position underscores the importance it places on the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques and the safety of pilgrims. By speaking out firmly, Islamabad has aligned itself with efforts to protect these sacred places and prevent further escalation in an already fragile regional environment. The statement reflects Pakistan’s consistent approach of supporting peace while standing by its close partner Saudi Arabia during times of heightened security concerns.
