Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) has issued a strong diplomatic protest to Afghanistan following the deadly Karachi terrorist attack on a Pakistan Rangers camp that claimed the lives of three security personnel and injured four others.

According to the FO spokesperson Tahir Andrabi, the Afghan Chargé d’Affaires was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad late at night, where Pakistan formally lodged a strong demarche over the incident. At the same time, Pakistan’s Ambassador Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani delivered a similar protest to the Afghan Foreign Ministry in Kabul.

The diplomatic move came after officials confirmed that Afghan nationals were involved in the attack. One attacker was captured alive during the operation, while three militants were killed by Rangers during the exchange of fire.

The attack took place at a Rangers camp in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area, where armed militants launched a coordinated assault. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the attackers first detonated explosives at the main gate before attempting to breach the security perimeter.

Security forces responded quickly, preventing a larger tragedy. The military described the attackers as members of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, labeling the group as an Indian-backed proxy involved in cross-border terrorism.

Following the attack, authorities sealed nearby roads and launched sanitisation operations to ensure no additional militants were hiding in the area. Senior Sindh officials, including Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, ordered detailed reports on the incident.

The ISPR reiterated that Pakistan’s anti-terror campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam would continue without interruption, stressing that those responsible for the attack would face strict action.

Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir also expressed condolences to the families of the martyred Rangers personnel, calling their sacrifice a symbol of Pakistan’s unwavering resolve against terrorism.

The incident has further increased tensions over regional security and cross-border militancy.
