A moderate earthquake struck multiple cities in Pakistan late Tuesday night, causing panic among residents as tremors were strongly felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar.

According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the quake measured 5.3 on the Richter scale and originated in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 234 kilometers, which helped reduce its overall impact on the surface.

The tremors began around 11:15 pm, prompting people to rush outdoors in fear. Reports confirmed that shaking was felt across Chitral, Swat, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, along with major urban centers. Although the tremor lasted only a few seconds, it was powerful enough to alarm people across wide areas.

Authorities stated that no casualties or property damage have been reported so far. Emergency response teams and seismic monitoring units are actively observing the situation to identify any aftershocks or structural risks.

Experts remind that Pakistan lies within an earthquake-prone zone because of several active fault lines running through the Hindu Kush and Himalayan regions. Minor and moderate earthquakes are common, making preparedness and public awareness essential.

The recent quake served as a timely reminder for citizens to stay alert and follow safety protocols during natural disasters.
