Cricket Australia has named a fresh-looking Australia squad for the upcoming white-ball tours of Pakistan and Bangladesh, giving several uncapped players a chance to make their international debut. The selection reflects the team’s desire to test new talent ahead of future major tournaments.
Mitchell Marsh will captain all squads during the tour. Senior fast bowlers Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc have been rested after their demanding Indian Premier League campaigns. Experienced all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis have also been left out following Australia’s disappointing T20 World Cup campaign.
The biggest talking points are the inclusions of Liam Scott, Ollie Peake, and Joel Davies. Scott has been selected in both ODI squads, while Peake will travel to Pakistan. Davies, known for his T20 skills, has earned a call-up for the Bangladesh T20 series.
Australia will play three ODIs against Pakistan in Rawalpindi and Lahore starting May 30. The team will then travel to Dhaka for three more ODIs before heading to Chattogram for a three-match T20 series.
Several established players, including Travis Head, Cooper Connolly, Ben Dwarshuis, and Xavier Bartlett, will join the Bangladesh leg after completing their IPL commitments.
Chief selector George Bailey said the tours offer an excellent opportunity to blend experienced players with emerging talent. He added that these subcontinent conditions will help assess Australia’s squad depth and prepare the team for future international challenges.
