Veteran politician Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa has passed away in Lahore at the age of 90, marking the end of a long and influential political career. His family confirmed that he had been under medical treatment for some time before his death.

Born on October 20, 1935, Khosa belonged to a respected political family and was the son of Sardar Dost Muhammad Khan Khosa. He received his early education from prestigious institutions including Queen Mary’s College and Aitchison College Lahore, shaping the foundation of his future leadership.

Khosa was widely known as a senior political figure from Dera Ghazi Khan and remained active in politics for decades. He was primarily associated with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, where he played a significant role in provincial governance. Over the years, he also held various key ministerial positions, including portfolios such as Education, Finance, Irrigation, and Local Government.

One of his most remarkable achievements was his unbroken record of nine consecutive terms as a member of the Punjab Provincial Assembly, highlighting his strong political influence and public support. He first entered politics in 1962, becoming the youngest member of the West Pakistan Assembly at just 26 years old.

In addition to his political career, Khosa was also recognized as the 21st chief of the Khosa tribe, a prominent Baloch tribe spread across Punjab, Balochistan, and Sindh. His leadership extended beyond politics into tribal and community affairs.

Before the 2018 general elections, Khosa parted ways with PML-N due to internal disagreements and later joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

His passing marks the loss of a seasoned leader who contributed significantly to Pakistan’s political landscape. Many remember him for his dedication, leadership, and decades of public service.
