Pakistan’s security forces successfully carried out an operation in North Waziristan, eliminating eight India-sponsored militants near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, according to the ISPR. The operation took place after intelligence reports detected suspicious movement of a militant group identified as Fitna al-Khawarij on April 1.

Acting swiftly, the Pakistan Army engaged the militants in a targeted operation. Due to their precise strategy and professional execution, all eight terrorists were neutralised on the spot. Officials confirmed that a significant cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the site, indicating the group’s operational intent.

The ISPR highlighted that this incident once again reflects the failure of the Afghan Taliban administration to ensure proper border control. It stressed that Afghan authorities must take responsibility and prevent their territory from being used by militants to carry out terrorist activities inside Pakistan. The statement also urged the Afghan side to stop the involvement of its citizens in cross-border terrorism.

Pakistan’s security forces remain determined to safeguard the country’s borders and maintain peace. Ongoing sanitisation operations are being conducted in the region to eliminate any remaining threats. The military reaffirmed its commitment to continue its counter-terrorism campaign under the initiative Azm-e-Istehkam, aiming to completely eradicate foreign-backed militancy.

In recent years, Pakistan has witnessed a rise in cross-border attacks, especially after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in 2021. Regions like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have been heavily affected.

To counter this growing threat, Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, resulting in the elimination of hundreds of militants and the destruction of several militant hideouts. Despite multiple attempts at diplomatic talks, tensions remain due to the lack of effective action against militant groups operating across the border.
