The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has officially confirmed that Pakistan’s junior hockey team will not participate in the upcoming Junior Hockey World Cup scheduled in India from November 28 to December 10, 2025.
According to sources, the decision was finalized in a PHF meeting held in Islamabad, where officials discussed the potential security risks and political tensions surrounding the event. The federation stated that the safety of players is its top priority and that it cannot compromise on their well-being under uncertain circumstances.
The PHF also highlighted India’s unfriendly behavior toward Pakistan in various sports-related matters, further influencing the decision. Officials noted that while the players were fully prepared, the current environment did not guarantee a secure atmosphere for international participation.
An official notice will soon be sent to Hockey India regarding Pakistan’s formal withdrawal from the tournament. The meeting also touched upon upcoming PHF elections and club record reviews, emphasizing transparency and cooperation with the Pakistan Sports Board to ensure fair processes.
This development marks a major setback for young Pakistani players who had been preparing to represent the country on the global stage.
