Pakistan Hockey Players Reject Rs. 400 Daily Allowance Proposal

Pakistan’s national hockey players have vehemently rejected the proposal to give them a daily allowance of only Rs. 400, calling it both unfair and disrespectful.

The players argued that this amount is far below what a laborer earns in a single day, reflecting a lack of appreciation for their hard work and dedication to the sport. Many athletes expressed their disappointment, stating that such a small allowance makes it nearly impossible for them to continue representing Pakistan at the international level. Some even hinted that, if the situation doesn’t improve, they may have no choice but to quit hockey altogether.

Despite these financial challenges, the players reiterated their strong commitment to Pakistan. They continue to play for the honor of raising the national flag in international tournaments. However, the growing financial burden, including costs for training, travel, and personal expenses, is far more than what is being provided.

This controversy brings attention to the ongoing financial crisis in Pakistan’s hockey sector. Once a source of international glory for the nation, hockey now suffers from poor funding, a lack of sponsorships, and minimal government support.

The players argue that without proper financial backing, it will be difficult to inspire the next generation of young talent to pursue hockey as a career.

They have called on the authorities to reconsider the allowance and improve facilities so that the team can focus on enhancing their performance instead of worrying about basic survival. The issue raises critical questions about the future of hockey in Pakistan.
