Kuwaiti-Pakistani businessman Muizz Ahmed Mirza is moving forward to take control of English non-league football club Plymouth Parkway FC. The deal is being handled through his international education company. At a recent press conference in London, Mirza confirmed that heads of terms have already been signed with the club. This marks the official start of a new ownership and operating structure.
Born in Karachi and currently based in Kuwait, Mirza shared his clear vision for the club. He wants to develop Plymouth Parkway into a professional side while carefully protecting its existing identity and strong links with the local community. “My dream is within the next 10 years to see this club reach the EFL,” he said. In the shorter term, he plans to turn Parkway into a full-time club within the next 12 to 18 months. Investment will focus on the academy, infrastructure and stadium facilities at Bolitho Park.
Founded in 1988, Plymouth Parkway currently competes in the Southern League Premier Division South, which sits at the seventh tier of English football. The club is four divisions below city rivals Plymouth Argyle. Mirza explained that his organisation has already supported more than 3,000 international students and built partnerships with over 600 universities worldwide. He aims to combine education and football by creating programmes that allow students to play competitive matches while learning about club management and commercial operations.
The businessman stressed that new investment will never come at the cost of the club’s history or local character. “Plymouth Parkway already has something money cannot create: history, identity, passionate people and a community that cares about its football club,” Mirza said. “My responsibility is not to replace that, but to protect it, build on it and give those people even more reasons to be proud of Parkway.”
Club chairman Mark Russell and vice-chairman Gez Baggott welcomed the agreement as an important step. They believe it will help introduce Parkway to new international audiences while keeping the club firmly rooted in Plymouth. Mirza is also in talks with the Pakistan Football League for possible collaboration. He plans to create internships, training opportunities and pathways for young people from Pakistan, as well as talented British-Pakistani footballers, within the English system.
