Pakistan’s security forces successfully killed 15 India-sponsored terrorists while foiling a major infiltration attempt along the Pak-Afghan border opposite North Waziristan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) shared the details on Thursday, highlighting the professional response of the troops.
The movement of a group of Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists trying to enter Pakistan was detected during the night of August 31 and September 1. Security forces monitored the situation carefully and with patience before launching a precise engagement. The operation lasted around 36 hours and resulted in the elimination of all 15 militants.
In the follow-up sanitisation drive, troops recovered a large quantity of weapons and ammunition from the killed terrorists. According to the ISPR, this recovery clearly exposed the harmful intentions of the terrorists and their facilitators who aim to disturb peace and stability in the country.
The incident once again proved Pakistan’s long-standing position regarding the Afghan Taliban regime. The military’s media wing stated that the Taliban administration has failed to stop the use of Afghan soil for cross-border terrorism. It has also been unable to manage the border effectively or meet its international responsibilities.
Security forces remain fully committed and determined to protect Pakistan’s frontiers. A sanitisation operation is still continuing in the area to locate and eliminate any remaining India-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists.
The ISPR reaffirmed that the counterterrorism campaign under the government’s Azm-e-Istehkam vision will continue with full force. The goal is to completely remove the threat of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
Pakistan has seen a rise in terror activities, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in 2021. A report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies noted that these two provinces accounted for nearly 96 percent of all violence-related deaths in the second quarter of 2026. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone recorded more than 61 percent of the fatalities and the highest number of violent incidents.
The successful action along the border shows the readiness and resolve of Pakistan’s security forces to counter any threat and safeguard the nation’s peace.
