Security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have killed at least 10 India-backed terrorists in two separate operations, the military’s media wing ISPR said on Friday. The statement described the militants as Fitna al-Khawarij and said they were actively involved in terror activities in the region.
In the first engagement on Thursday, troops successfully thwarted an attempted attack on security checkposts in the Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan. During the exchange of fire, eight terrorists were eliminated through precise and effective action, according to ISPR.
A second encounter took place the same day in Dir district, where security forces neutralised two more militants. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from those killed. After the operations, sanitisation efforts continued in the area to clear any remaining threat.
The military said it remains committed to the ongoing counterterrorism campaign under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam. Officials reiterated their determination to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
Pakistan has faced a rise in militant attacks, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since 2021. Islamabad has long maintained that India supports certain groups operating from Afghan territory to target Pakistan. It has also urged the Afghan Taliban administration to take stronger action against organisations using Afghan soil for cross-border attacks.
A recent report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies noted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan together accounted for nearly 96 percent of all violence-related fatalities in the second quarter of 2026. KP alone recorded more than 61 percent of the deaths and the highest number of violent incidents nationwide.
The latest operations come amid continued efforts by security forces to stabilise the border regions and disrupt networks involved in repeated attacks on checkposts and civilian areas. ISPR emphasised that such actions will continue until the threat is fully eliminated.
