Residents of Karachi experienced fresh spells of rain on Friday night as several areas of the city received light to heavy showers. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), more rainfall is expected throughout the weekend as an active monsoon system continues to influence weather conditions across the country.
The heaviest rainfall in Karachi was recorded in Surjani Town, which received 5.5mm of rain. Other areas including Gulshan e Hadeed, Keamari, Nazimabad, PAF Masroor, Gulshan e Maymar, and North Karachi also witnessed varying levels of rainfall. Heavy showers were reported along Shahrah e Faisal, Sohrab Goth, DHA Phase 6, and nearby neighbourhoods, while light drizzle covered II Chundrigar Road and surrounding commercial districts.
The PMD has forecast widespread rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds across Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Islamabad, and Gilgit Baltistan from July 25 to July 27. Some regions are likely to receive heavy rainfall, increasing the risk of urban flooding, especially in low lying areas.
The weather department has warned that cities including Lahore, Gujranwala, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Multan, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Mirpurkhas, and Karachi could experience water accumulation if heavy rain continues. Authorities have also cautioned that strong winds and lightning may damage vulnerable infrastructure such as electric poles, billboards, and solar panels.
In addition to city residents, the PMD has advised tourists, travellers, and farmers to remain alert during the forecast period. Farmers have been encouraged to schedule agricultural activities according to weather conditions and ensure proper protection for livestock.
With monsoon activity expected to remain active over the coming days, citizens are advised to follow official weather updates, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain, and take precautionary measures to stay safe.
