PDMA Sindh has issued a province-wide alert as monsoon rains and thunderstorms are expected to hit various parts of the province. The weather warning remains in effect until July 25, prompting authorities to prepare for possible disruptions.
According to PDMA Sindh Director General Syed Salman Shah, strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea will bring widespread rain accompanied by thunderstorms across Sindh. He urged all district administrations, emergency services, and relevant departments to stay on high alert and take immediate precautionary steps.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department forecast indicates heavy rainfall at isolated places in districts including Hyderabad, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Sanghar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Jamshoro, and Shaheed Benazirabad. Meanwhile, light to moderate rain is likely in Ghotki, Kashmore, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Sukkur, and Khairpur. Areas such as Larkana, Naushahro Feroze, and Thatta may experience rain with thunderstorms in the coming days.
In Karachi, the weather is expected to remain warm and humid with partly cloudy skies and chances of isolated drizzle. While the city may not see heavy downpours, residents should still stay cautious of sudden changes.
PDMA Sindh has warned that strong winds and lightning could damage vulnerable structures, electricity poles, solar panels, and billboards. The authority has already activated its full monsoon preparedness plan. Dewatering pumps and essential machinery are on standby, especially for low-lying areas prone to urban and flash flooding. Teams are ready to move quickly if any emergency arises.
Syed Salman Shah stressed the importance of public safety. He advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather, stay away from weak structures and electricity poles, and follow official updates closely.
