Pakistan and Iran have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing security cooperation, border management, and regional stability during high level talks held in Islamabad. The discussions took place as Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni arrived in Pakistan for a three day official visit and met with Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

The meeting highlighted the growing partnership between the two neighboring countries as both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in tackling terrorism, narcotics trafficking, illegal immigration, and human smuggling. The ministers stressed that closer coordination between security institutions is essential to effectively address common challenges, particularly those affecting border regions.

Upon his arrival at the Ministry of Interior, the Iranian minister received a warm welcome and was presented with a guard of honour by the Federal Constabulary. The ceremony reflected the importance Pakistan places on maintaining strong diplomatic and security relations with Iran. Following the official welcome, the two ministers held a private meeting before leading their respective delegations in detailed discussions on bilateral cooperation and regional developments.

A major focus of the talks was improving coordination against cross border security threats and enhancing intelligence sharing between the two countries. Both ministers agreed that stronger institutional collaboration would help curb criminal activities and improve security along the shared border. They also discussed practical measures to strengthen law enforcement cooperation and develop more effective strategies for managing migration and border control.

Speaking after the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Iran across multiple sectors. He praised the efforts of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni for supporting regional peace and promoting diplomatic engagement during a challenging period.

Naqvi also expressed confidence that ongoing Middle East diplomatic efforts would contribute to reducing tensions and creating lasting peace in the region. Both countries agreed to maintain close communication and continue working together to promote regional security, strengthen bilateral ties, and address shared challenges through cooperation and dialogue.
