Pakistan and Egypt have reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace, regional stability, and diplomatic dialogue as tensions continue to rise across the Middle East. The renewed commitment came during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum 2026 in Manila.
During their discussions, both leaders exchanged views on the evolving situation in Palestine and other regional developments. They strongly rejected violence against civilians and expressed concern over illegal settlement activities in the occupied West Bank. The ministers emphasized that lasting peace can only be achieved through diplomacy, respect for international law, and meaningful dialogue between all parties.
The meeting also focused on strengthening Pakistan-Egypt relations. Both sides reviewed progress in trade, investment, and economic cooperation, while expressing a shared desire to expand collaboration in multiple sectors. They agreed to maintain close coordination at regional and international forums and continue working together on issues of mutual importance.
Discussing the wider Middle East situation, the two foreign ministers highlighted the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries. They noted that ongoing instability in the region has created serious challenges for global maritime trade, energy security, and the overall world economy. Both leaders agreed that dialogue and peaceful engagement remain the best path toward reducing tensions and restoring stability.
The ministers also reviewed the outcomes of the latest Regional Four consultations held in Cairo and reaffirmed their joint commitment to supporting regional cooperation and long-term peace.
On the sidelines of the forum, Ishaq Dar also met with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath and ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn. The meetings focused on enhancing cooperation in trade, connectivity, investment, defence, and people to people exchanges. The ASEAN Secretary-General appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in encouraging dialogue and de-escalation during recent regional developments, while both sides agreed to continue expanding cooperation in areas of shared interest.
